all the people around her seem eerie since they are blurred. Children are so different from adults and seem to pick up on the smallest things :) . I love this shot!

was browsing your gallery and i must say this shot jumped out at me. this shot is full of soul and emotion that i could just get lost in. the feeling of loneliness and heartache is what i feel and see in this shot. excellent work its not everyday you can see a shot that has great soul.

Wow, very neat! It does draw so much attention to her by having everyone else be blurred. Cool!

I lovelovelove how everyone except the one girl in the red dress is blurry or out of focus. the muted color works beautifully, too. :)

Has this been manipulated at all? If not, how did you get the blurs?

what, do you mean by the motion blur? i said so in the author's comments, i'm not ashamed.

i like what you did to the photo. the look is interesting and different.. but not quite sophisticated i think.

there are two ways to capture something like that usually. if you have a moving subject and you want it to stand out, you can chose a slow shutter speed and follow the person while exposing. here is an example of that thechnique: [link] or [link]

of course therefor the combination of light and aperture are the key to get an exposure of at least 1/15th. these shots were 1/4th and 1/8th at f2.0 on 400iso at night. so on daylight you'd have to shoot iso50-100 at f16 probably to get that speed on an overcast day.

another way to do is to have a slow shutter but keeping the camera steady. there you need to be lucky to capture someone standing and everyone else is moving. something like that: [link]

a 1/15th is the minimum here again. i went for an 8th or 15th and stopped down to f16 i think.

if you have a shot that wasn't exposed like that and want to make it in photoshop, you reall need to be accurate with the blur and blur them all quite the same. i still like what you did to their heads, it looks different to what i see usually but i think this can be enhanced.

oh yes, i know how to capture it, but it's very difficult to set up a shot when you're crossing the other side of the street (trying not to get hit by a car XD) and just taking quick snapshots. i didn't intend for the effects in this photo to be realistic, necessarily, but just to create a mood.

thank you very much for the feedback, though! the next time i want to (and have the opportunity to) capture a shot with such movement, i will keep your tips in mind. it means a lot coming from someone as obviously talented and advanced as you.
