I just wanted to let you all know that there's a reason for my lack of posting recently on deviantArt. I am trying to move away from dA to focus more on my own website. I just learned how to use Dreamweaver, a web design program, and hope to begin working on my site over winter break. I will post photography, art, things to buy (probably) and maybe some writing there. I'm just trying to move away from dA because I feel like it's slowly becoming a less and less serious art site and more of an 'art myspace' as well as a place to pass off nude photographs with explicit poses as 'artistic nudes'. I'm not abandoning it entirely - you guys have been incredible as followers and supporters, and your feedback has helped me to grow so much. I am just going to be much less active than I have been in the past. I'll still post every now and again.

Thank you all so, so much for your constant love and awesome encouragements. I honestly cannot tell you how much your support has meant to me over the years, and how inspiring you've all been. I feel horrible doing this, but I know I kind of need to.

SECOND:

does anyone else think that:

1. intense crazy psycho love confessions for singers/celebs/famous people/etc. are totally CREEPY!? okay, i get it if you really like someone - i mean, i have my share of singers, actors, artists, and authors whom i adore - but regardless of how amazing you think they are, they are NOT your soulmate, nor should you love them with every last bit of your heart, because really. they don't love you with all of theirs. so stop thinking you're the only one for him/her and cease your dream wedding plans. it's hilariously disturbing to me when i see a photograph of, say, johnny depp, bombarded with crazy-ass stalkerish comments like "OMG SO HOT HE'S THE ONLY MAN FOR ME" or "I'LL RAPE HIM WHEN I MEET HIM"... that is not okay. haha.

2. websites need to stop refurbishing and redesigning themselves?! we don't need new versions every few months, seriously. it's too much, especially when the changes are so drastic that navigation ceases to make sense and functionality is questionable.

3. IT'S TOTALLY INSANE THAT ASH KETCHUM, THE (albeit fictional... and cartooned) OBJECT OF MY CHILDHOOD DESIRES/MAJOR TELEVISION CHARACTER CRUSH, IS VOICED BY A GIRL!!!!!?!1?!!?1/1!/ i know i shouldn't be surprised, considering so many boy cartoon characters have female voice actors, but... ash!?! his voice was sooooo cuuuuuteeee and dreamyyyyy! fffffffffff! /nostalgia

so! thank you all for the overwhelmingly helpful response on my latest poll ( [link] ). i've decided i am going to build a website this summer and sell some of my art and possibly writing on it, good prices and shipping and such. i've discussed it a lot with my parents and they support me fully. i'm quite excited!

in other news:

1. i turned eighteen this past friday (the 14th)! not only did my friends and i inhale obscene amounts of helium from my balloons (bahaha, hilarity ensued), but eighteen also means... tattoo time! haha. i plan on getting a black script tattoo on my left collarbone that says 'keep the faith' in memory of my uncle tim who was murdered when i was younger. it was the phrase surrounding his death and the hard months that we lived in a hotel room during his trial. i think it's a good motto for everything, really, though - you've gotta keep the faith and stay strong that even in rough times, things will look up. why take anything as a negative experience? sure, bad things - terrible, sad, awful things - can happen in life, every day, and it is perfectly okay to mourn. but you can learn from everything. everything is an opportunity to gain knowledge and better yourself and your mind, and you've gotta keep that frame of mind and keep the faith.

2. my little sister sasha went back into the psychiatric ward (for her schizophrenia) because she is... not doing well at all. i am not asking for sympathy, but just... keep her in your thoughts, if you can (and prayers, i suppose, if you do that sort of thing). thank you <3

3. i had an amazing time ghosthunting in gettysburg with my friend zoë for the past two weeks; we had tons of fun and many insane adventures (some of which are explained here [link] !). i can't wait to go through the photographs i took and see if any turned out! also, the 15th was my boyfriend and my one-year anniversary. we've been together an entire 365 (well, more now)! i love him beyond what words can express and am so SO fortunate and glad to have him in my life.

4. I LOVE YOU ALL, seriously. your comments and suggestions and feedback and encouragement mean so much to me. i wish i had the time to reply to each and every one of you individually (like i used to), but sadly, i really don't. however, i read everything you say and appreciate it so much! thank you thank you thank you /hugs/

5. i will be attending maryland institute college of art this fall! thanks to scholarships and aid, i am able to go. i am quite excited... and i pity my roomate XD they're gonna have to learn to deal with a loud-voiced, disorganized insomniac who makes extraneous noises a lot and sings loudly in the shower and doesn't eat any green candy (including m&m's) thanks to slightly ocd tendencies and has major major germaphobia... hahaaa oh geez!

6. uhh... i just didn't want an even number. oh! i'm not sure i like the new dA layout : the resizing/enlarging when you click on a picture is especially strange...

If I were to make a website to sell my art, would anyone here be interested in purchasing things? It would have things such as:

- high-quality photo prints
- original drawings & other art
- commissioned items (drawings, tattoo designs, etc.)
- decorated accessories (shoes, bags, etc.)

& possibly:
- a poetry/writing chapbook
- photoshoot opportunities
- handmade accessories like hairbows and jewelry
- silkscreened/printed tees

Everything would be for the most reasonable prices possible, because I can easily sympathize with the tight-on-money situations that a lot of people are in. The website would most likely be self-owned/operated, not hosted by some sketchy site or anything of the sort.

i just wanted to say hi to everyone. it feels like it's been a while since i've done that. i miss being able to reply to all of you guys! i really miss it. i just don't have enough time anymore... :

so, HI! how are you all? what's been going on in your lives?

i've been really busy with finishing scholarship applications for mica; i got a $44,000 scholarship to saic and a $32,000 to scad, but i really hope to attend mica for college. however, money plays a huge factor in where i go. i wish it didn't. stupid money. i'm taking a class called "poverty in america" in school, and it's really opened my eyes to a lot of things, specifically the unspoken class system in the u.s. and the way society deals with the "poor". it's interesting, but it makes me hate money more. why does money have to weigh so heavily upon us? why does it have to be such a huge factor in life? aksjfadlkfhasldf. it's frustrating.

i've also been spending a lot of my time getting ready for my gallery show next week. i'll be showing my photographs alongside three other artists at the straube center in new jersey. i'm super excited, but it is not a small amount of work to prepare for! haha. it's super super stressful.

however, i managed to find some time tuesday night to go see muse (my boy bought us tickets! <3), and holy GEEZ were they awesome. matt bellamy is an absolute god. his voice is fucking incredible, and their music altogether sounds amazing live. even if you only know a few of their songs, i'd highly recommend attending a concert if at all possible. it was easily one of the best live shows i've been to.

and last but not least, i wanted to sort of explain myself - more like my submissions here - as of late. a few people have mentioned to me that i've been churning out some 'darker' things than usual, with less and less lighthearted and colorful things to break it up. i know this - it's just because my art often reflects my life and mood. art is not only an outlet for me but almost a form of meditation. it's my thoughts and feelings and pieces of my mind, and when i am feeling hectic/pressured/angry/upset/whatever, it becomes pretty evident in what i create. it's not really intentional, it's just how it works. my little sister sasha has been stuck in a downward spiral ever since she came back from the psychiatric ward; her schizophrenia always wears on my whole household, but she's been doing worse in the last couple of weeks. i have a lot of schoolwork lately, and getting it all done is a really big hassle - i just need a break. and tomorrow is the anniversary of the murder of my uncle, so that's been sitting like a shadow over my family as well.

i'm just... i need art in these kinds of times, and i hope you all understand and bear with me through these less vibrant phases. i'm scraping along, trying to be strong, and keeping in mind that everything will pass, that i've gotten through worse things in the past.

in even the hardest times, you have to just be, to exist, and make your way through it. the skies will clear eventually. they always do, even after the heaviest rains.

you've gotta keep the faith.

so, how have your lives been lately!? anything exciting? good valentine's days?

i was one of the lucky ones who was struck by the huge blizzard on the east coast. we had a six day weekend from school!

since i like to procrastinate, especially in terms of schoolwork, i'll just write about what i did [and provide photos to go along, oh mah goodness!?]. feel free to ignore my incessant babbling.

wednesday - first day off from school! i played in the snow with my twin and neighbors. we made a cult of snow angels and jumped on pine trees to knock the snow down. it was actually hilarious, because we were up to our knees in snow and could barely walk. haha.
thursday - spent some quality time with my mom, haha! and later i went to my boyfriend's best friend's house with the intention of sledding, but we ended up just chilling out and then heading to the movies to see edge of darkness. however, i couldn't tell you what it was about. all i really heard was something about a box of tarantulas, which i don't think is actually relevant to the movie at all.
friday - talked to the gallery manager of the straube center in new jersey about my gallery show in march! then i went bowling with my buddies. my boy and my best friend and her boy went bowling, and i rediscovered how bad i am at it. i don't really like bowling anyway - it's so germy! - but it was oodles of fun, haha.
saturday - didn't do much. i've been sick, and i felt particularly sick on saturday. my brother and i did go to the mall, though, and i got a cute sweater dress thing from H&M for $10.
sunday - [photo from friday] valentine's day! my boy and i spent some quality time together. he is absolutely the most amazing boy in the world, and i love him more than anything. today is our ten month anniversary!

and today i chilled with my friend zoë, and after watching "norma rae" on megavideo [for school, blehh], we translated german fanfiction stories into english using yahoo babelfish because it is straight up HILARIOUS. i'm not even kidding. you should try it.

now i need to go do work... sigh.

this was a ridiculously long journal entry! here's some tea/hot cocoa/coffee for those who made it through.

i am feeling incredibly stressed out right now because of school and college application/portfolio work, aaaaaggghh. i just want to have everything done and out of the way. thank god winter break is coming next week!
