(my dad used to sing tom petty's song "wildflowers" to me all the time when i was little. he'd play his guitar and i'd dance across the sidewalks all down the street - i'll never forget it.)
I feel she is a child being herself no fake display . She looks completely comfortable getting her picture taken. Almost wild, but the dangling earing reminds me symbolicly of the elegant woman to be. She is beautiful and so is the light and texture of her cheek and the tiny wrinkles uner her eyes. I like the impact of the saturated colors with the cool tones of the skin, but it may be a smidge dark. The lips are almost lost in shadow and blood red. That makes her apear almost predatory. I can just see this on the cover of a book.
I very much like the switch of green across her catlike eyes that enhanses thier color and texture and sort of brings home a feeling that she is part of nature and hidden. Some of the grass strands are distracting though and I would like to see it cropped less tight.
Wow. Such a beautiful piece. The eyes in this photograph are what get me. They seem so innocent, so wide with wonder; yet there is a darker side to this photo. Her mouth is set not in a smile but just a softer version of a frown. But it is not her mouth nor the color that has you captivated. It is all about her eyes. Great usage of color. Her red lips, the cool greens, and darker blues just add to the picture. As well as the different textures. The sharpness of the grass in the frame, the softer blend around her eyes, and the fading of the rest of the photo. As if it's not important that it's there. I enjoy this piece because it feels as if there are two sides to it. One with your sister just being a little girl, innocent and wondrous. The other where it feels like she's hiding a secret from the rest of the world.
...have you taken another photo of your little sister, put it on deviantart, and taken it down? i could SWEAR i had the original size to an image that i found randomly iconified long before i found the original on da favorited on here... and she resembles the little girl.
